Rick has Bachelor of Arts degree in Molecular Biology from the University of California, San Diego, and a Master of Science degree from the same institution in Bioengineering.  He has worked as a researcher and manager in the biotech field, and is presently home-schooling his two children.  He is also very active as a "soccer dad" in Oceanside, California.
